Terry Stewart's Retirement

terry-Stewart.jpg

After 40 years as a full time lawyer and 8 years practicing part-time at our firm, Terry retired from practice in October, 2018.

When Digby and Terry first discussed his joining the firm as Associate Counsel, it was assumed that Terry would fully transition into retirement within a few years. However, the relationship worked out so well, Terry continued on for 8 years.

Looking back, Terry is very proud to have been able to provide his services to thousands of clients and charitable entities; his work has led to the formation of numerous cherished friendships which he will continue to enjoy in retired life.

Terry has also expressed his pride at having founded three firms of his own prior to joining Digby Leigh & Company: Norton Stewart - Business Lawyers in 1971; Stewart & Associates in 2005; Stewart & Winch LLP in 2008. Additionally, he was the first Canadian Lawyer invited to join Lawyers Associated Worldwide in 1992, then a membership of just 25 lawyers.

Terry’s substantial contributions to the legal community will be missed by his colleagues and many friends. Terry embodied a youthful spirit consistent with that of the firm’s members and while he will be sorely missed, we wish him “good travelling” as he pursues his passions for his family, travel, the arts and a life long effort to discover his “fountain of youth” by locating the best café lattes in existence. Congratulations on a truly tremendous career Terry, we look forward to seeing you at a Fun Friday soon!
